ఓం గోహితాయ నమః | ॐ गोहिताय नमः | OM Gohitāya namaḥ

గవాం వృద్ధ్యర్థమపి గోవర్ధనం ధృతవానితి ।
గోభ్యోహితో గోహిత ఇత్యుచ్యతే విబుదైర్హరిః ॥
గోవులకు హితుడు. గోవుల విషయమున హితకరమగు పనులు చేయువాడు గోహితః. గోవులను కాపాడటానికై గోవర్ధన గిరిని ధరించియుండుట ఒక ఉదాహరణ. లేదా 'గో' అనగా భూమికి సంబంధించిన విషయమున హితమును చేకూర్చువాడు అని కూడా చెప్పవచ్చును. భూభారమును తగ్గించుటకొరకై పలు అవతారములను దాల్చి యుండెను కదా!
:: పోతన భాగవతము - దశమ స్కంధము, పూర్వ భాగము ::
క. ఏ నవతరించు టెల్లను, మానుగఁ జతురంతధరణి మండలభరమున్‍
మానుపుకోఱకుం గాదే, పూనెద నిది మొదలు దగిలి భూభార మణఁపన్‍. (1533)
ఆ. మగధనాథుఁ బోర మడియింపఁ బోలదు, మడియకున్న వీఁడు మరల మరలి
బలము గూర్చికొంచుఁ బఱతెంచుఁ బరతేరఁ, ద్రుంపవచ్చు నేల దొసఁగు దొఱఁగ. (1534)
నేను అవతరించుట నాలుగు చెఱగుల భూభారమును నివారించుట కొరకేగనుక నేటినుంచి భూభారమును హరించుటకు ఉద్యమిస్తాను. యుద్ధములో మగధేశ్వరుడైన జరాసంధుడిని చంపరాదు. వీడు చావకుంటే మళ్ళీ మళ్ళీ సైన్యాన్ని సమకూర్చుకొని వస్తూ వుంటాడు. అప్పుడు అందరినీ చంపి ధరాభారమును ఉడిపి, ఆవల వీడిని చంపవచ్చును.
गवां वृद्ध्यर्थमपि गोवर्धनं धृतवानिति ।
गोभ्योहितो गोहित इत्युच्यते विबुदैर्हरिः ॥
Gavāṃ vr̥ddhyarthamapi govardhanaṃ dhr̥tavāniti,
Gobhyohito gohita ityucyate vibudairhariḥ.
The One who thinks of welfare of the cows. For the welfare of cows he lifted and sustained the Govardhana hill. So Gohitaḥ or the One who thinks of welfare of the cows.
Or 'Go' can also be interpreted as earth. To ease the burden of earth, i.e., annihilate the evil doers who are a burden to earth, He incarnated many times and hence He is Gohitaḥ.
:: श्रीमद्भागवते एकादशस्कन्धे पञ्चमोऽध्यायः ::
भूभारासुरराजन्य हन्तवे गुप्तये सताम् ।
अवतीर्णस्य निर्वृत्यैः यशो लोके वितन्तये ॥ ५० ॥
Śrīmad Bhāgavata - Canto 11, Chapter 5
Bhūbhārāsurarājanya hantave guptaye satām,
Avatīrṇasya nirvr̥tyaiḥ yaśo loke vitantaye. 50.
The Lord descended to kill the demoniac kings who were the burden of the earth and to protect the saintly devotees. However, both the demons and the devotees are awarded liberation by the Lord's mercy. Thus, His transcendental fame has spread throughout the universe.
| शुभाङ्गश्शान्तिदस्स्रष्टा कुमुदः कुवलेशयः । |
| गोहितो गोपतिर्गोप्ता वृषभाक्षो वृषप्रियः ॥ ६३ ॥ |
| శుభాఙ్గశ్శాన్తిదస్స్రష్టా కుముదః కువలేశయః । |
| గోహితో గోపతిర్గోప్తా వృషభాక్షో వృషప్రియః ॥ 63 ॥ |
| Śubhāṅgaśśāntidassraṣṭā kumudaḥ kuvaleśayaḥ, |
| Gohito gopatirgoptā vr̥ṣabhākṣo vr̥ṣapriyaḥ ॥ 63 ॥ |
